Re: FROZEN SHOULDER ??
had one a few years ago.
Saw a physio who manipulated/exercised it but he said it will just eventually come back on its own, in a matter of months.
Mine took 9 months I think.
All fine now.

gav, thats the problem, my doctors are a fucking rotten group practice, that skimp over every penny, getting an mri would be next to impossible

Re: FROZEN SHOULDER ??
Though I would echo the prior comment of establishing exactly what it is first. A physio won't help you too much with that - you need to see a consultant who is the one who will sign you onto an MRI.

Re: FROZEN SHOULDER ??
I've torn the ligaments in my shoulder and my knee. For both, the exercises that the physio tells you to do are exactly the ones you can fundbon the net. Most of those people are stealing a living.

People have shoulder surgery all the time.

I got a bit blasé with my rehab and didn't really push myself to get the strength back after surgery and am paying the price now 3 years later.

Re: FROZEN SHOULDER ??
Exercises off the internet are all well and good, except if you have done some actual damage to your shoulder.

I assumed I had damaged my rotator cuff about 4 years ago, and after having physio, xrays and an MRI it was actually a torn anterior labrum.

Needed surgery. The exercises I was doing were actually making it worse, not better.

Of course, after surgery, I then had to do roughly the same exercises.

Just damaged it again before Christmas actually, so no bowling or throwing at cricket and it kind of fucks up my plans for indoor cricket too.
But I'm now working with a very good biomechanical specialist and physio to look at strengthening my whole body and hopefully put the problem behind me once and for all.

My point really, is that until you've had the xray and MRI, you won't actually know if there is any long term damage. It will just keep getting sore, and you'll risk making it worse with your attempts to fix it.

Re: FROZEN SHOULDER ??
Had a rotator cuff injury and as said you have to open up the shoulder and hold it and feel a bit of pain.
The instinct is to protect it but it needs to be worked.
Do the exercises several times a day when you have a few spare minutes.
Found the most useful leaning lightly against a wall and walking your fingers up the wall and holding it for a minute or so once it starts to hurt a bit. Go a bit higher and longer each time.

Re: FROZEN SHOULDER ??
What others have said, look online for exercises, I waited months to see a physio all to be given basic exercises, probably forget abut surgery as the shoulder is the most complex joint in the body due to the amount it can move in different directions

Got a hole in mine. 8mm apparently. Ultrasound and MRI scan figured that shit out. Three months later...still waiting on the NHS.

WHAT A TIME TO BE ALIVE.

Re: FROZEN SHOULDER ??
Oh I see, changing your sleeping position may help, sleeping on your side with weight on your upper arm and shoulder may cause this.

I've been given the cold shoulder once or twice, if frozen shoulder is anything like that I suggest you just give it back to them. Uncle Riddle solves our problems....kaboooooom...tish

Re: FROZEN SHOULDER ??
i play golf twice a week, and first noticed it lining up a putt crouching down with my left hand at the top of my putter grip, it was like a sharp cramp, in the front of my shoulder joint, certain movement really fucking hurts, like a hot knife going in the joint and the arm nearly to the elbow, i can still swing a club, but it hurts on the follow through

You need to do the exercises and push yourself through the pain barrier. The pain of opening up the joint with these exercises is doing good not harm. Stick with it and eventually your shoulder joint will open out completely like your other one. Then you'll be able to thread your trousers belt, play overhead shots at squash/badminton /tennis, sleep comfortably etc in short be back to normal.
